1. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum is the first game in the Batman: Arkham series. The story of the game was written by Paul Dini, who wrote the story of Batman. The game was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in the year of 2009.

The core plot of the game takes place on Arkham Island. The Joker, who is the villain here took control over Arkham and traps Batman inside with many challenges and enemies. You have to fight with the enemies as Batman to restore order. You also have to destroy Titan, which is a venom based drug used by Bane to enhance powers before the Joker uses it to execute his destructive plans.

The game is full of simple but exciting combats and riddles that will give you a typical Batman experience. There are also many gadgets available throughout the game to deal with different situations.

2. Batman: Arkham City

After the huge success and positive response of the Batman: Arkham Asylum, the second game of the series Batman: Arkham City was released in 2011 as a sequel of the previous game.

The former warden of Arkham Asylum, Quincy Sharp became the mayor of Gotham City and imprisoned Batman in Arkham city which is a super-prison. The super-prison was established by the mayor by destroying the slums of Gotham city. Batman has to uncover the mystery of Protocol 10 which is managed by Dr Hugo Strange, who is the main villain here.

Most of the characters are from the previous part but it features some special downloadable characters like Catwoman, Nightwing and Robin with individual side missions to play. All the game mechanics are similar to the previous part and there are no remarkable changes to notice.

3. Batman: Arkham Origins

The third game in the series is Batman: Arkham origin which is not a sequel but a prequel of Batman: Arkham Asylum released in 2013. The plot of the game is set several years before Arkham Asylum where Batman is not very experienced and refined.

The game sets in downtown east Gotham city just like Arkham City but there are some changes to define different periods. The crime lord, Black Mask hired eight world’s deadliest assassins to kill Batman on Christmas evening. Here, Batman is also chased by police who sees Batman as a deadly creature.

In this part, you can experience the rise of Batman’s career, the first encounter with Joker and many other intense key moments in young Batman’s life. Arkham Origins is the first game in the series which comes with multiplayer gameplay. There are also some side missions with different playable side characters like Deathstroke and Cold Heart.

4. Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight is the fourth instalment in the Arkham series and it is the sequel of Batman: Arkham City. The game was released in 2015.

The story follows the set of Arkham City in uptown Gotham, west of Downtown and east Gotham. Almost after nine months of Arkham City, Scarecrow, the main villain of the story return to destroy Batman. After forcefully evacuating Gotham city, Scarecrow unites some of the greatest villains of Batman to destroy the Dark Knight.

Arkham Knight, who has some personal clash with Batman and claims to know all of Batman’s secrets, helps Scarecrow and his allies to execute the mission of destruction of Batman.

This might be the biggest instalment in the whole series of the game. Like other parts, Arkham Knight also has some side missions with side characters like Killer croc, Mr Freeze etc.

5. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

After the release of Batman: Arkham Knight there are rumours that a Suicide Squad game might release as the post-credit scene of Batman: Arkham Origins is featured with Suicide Squad. But there was no official news from the publishers. Later in 2020, the official artwork of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released and the plot suggested that the Batman: Arkham series would continue in the Suicide Squad game.

According to the publishers, the game might release in 2022.
