Fairy Tail has been in the spotlight for quite some time now. This action-packed shounen adventure anime follows the fun yet chaotic saga of Lucy Heartfilia, Natsu Dragoneel, and his pet cat, Happy. Even though the series was concluded in 2019, the fans remain curious, is there any sign of the Fairy Tail new Season?

So far, the anime has around 328 episodes, spanning for 9 seasons. Anime fans have been eagerly waiting for any announcement regarding a Season 10 since the last episode was released.

For a show to continue, it needs to meet certain requirements. Fairy Tail’s main issue is that the source material, i.e. the manga has been marked as completed since July 26th, 2017. The last chapter of the manga concluded the entire series and the same goes for the anime.

The ninth and final season of the series contained two story arcs: the ‘Avatar Arc’ for the first seven episodes, followed by the ‘Alvarez Arc’ adapted from the 51st volume of the manga till its conclusion.

As of now, there has been no official announcement of a Season 10.

There is very little chance of the anime getting renewed again as after the airing of the 9th season, the show was canceled and the latest season was labeled as to its last.

However, this does not mean that fans should cross out any possibilities of future Spin-offs or sequels.

Plot

In a magical world where the existence of magical creatures, magical artifacts, and wizards, fazes no one, Natsu Dragoneel is on a journey to find his foster father, Igneel. Accompanying him is his flying blue cat, Happy. Together the two take missions and follow rumors to look for Igneel who is a dragon!

On their adventure, they come across Lucy Heartfilia, a young celestial mage who dreams to join a magical guild called Fairy Tail. Lucy befriends the two after they save her from a curse of a charm spell.

However, after a series of misfortune events occur, Natsu, Lucy and Happy team up to take down the enemy who turns out to be an impersonator taking the identity of Fire Salamander. After the battle, Natsu and Happy reveal that they are members of Fairy Tail!

Natsu invites her to the guild after a series of misfortune events cause them to join forces to take down an enemy. In the Guild, Lucy befriends several other wizards such as the Gray Fullbuster, an ice wizard who refuses to wear anything but his underwear and Erza Scarlet, the guild’s most powerful female wizard.

They later meet Wendy Marvell, a fellow Dragon Slayer, similar to Natsu and Carla, an anthropomorphic flying cat similar to Happy. Together, they undertake several missions, meet more comrades and defeat dark guilds, criminals and other forces that threaten the Kingdom of Fiore.

Watch Order

Stretching over 9 seasons, 9 movies and 4 movies, fans are not short on content to watch. However, newer watchers might feel a little intimated as unlike the current seasonal animes, long-running animes might be a little harder to keep track of.

Fairy Tail Main Characters

While there are no officially set main characters of Fairy Tail, certain characters appear quite frequently and get a majority of the show’s screen time.

Natsu Dragoneel

Natsu is the main protagonist and a member of the magician guild, Fairy Tail. He is a Dragon Slayer and possesses the same abilities as his foster father, the Fire Salamander, Igneel. That means he can wield flames and consume them according to his will.

At the beginning of the series, the main motivation of his adventure was to find Igneel who had been missing for seven years. However, as things escalated, he finds out about his relationship with Zeref Dragoneel, his older brother and one of the evilest wizards.

Lucy Heartfilia

Lucy is also one of the main protagonists and a member of the Guild, Fairy Tail. She is the daughter of the business tycoon Jude Heartfilia and wizard Layla Heartfilia. After the death of her mother, Lucy leaves her home and severs ties with her father.

Just like her mother, Lucy is a gifted celestial wizard. She can summon celestial spirits using special magical objects called Gatekeys. Following Layla’s death, Lucy inherited two of her mother’s gold Gatekeys which can summon powerful zodiac spirits from the celestial world.

Happy

Happy is an anthropomorphic blue cat who hails from the Exceed race, cat-like beings that existed in Edolas 100 years before the main storyline. He is also Natsu’s best friend and partner in crime.

Although Happy is not particularly useful in battle, he can sprout wings on his back and carry people off to safety. This has proved to help in multiple instances during fights.

Happy’s character was mainly created for comic relief, his ‘Aye!’ or ‘Aye Sir!’ remains to be one of the most iconic lines in the anime. He is very energetic and cheerful but is protective and loyal to his friends. He acts quite cheeky around Lucy and throws multiple remarks at her.

Gray Fullbuster

Gray is a member of Fairy Tail and an ice mage. He is a part of Team Natsu and is often seen getting into quarrels with him due to their repelling personalities and opinions.

Grey’s magic, Ice-Make is a form of Molding Magic that allows the user to shape and create ice according to his will. He is also immune to cold as he is seen in his underwear most of his screen time.

Erza Scarlet

Erza is considered to be the strongest female wizard of Fairy Tail and is a part of Team Natsu. She is commonly referred to as ‘Titania’ because her magical strength is well known in all of Fiore which makes her the queen of the fairies or Titania.

Her magical ability is known as Requip: The Knight which is a kind of spatial magic that allows her to change her armor and weapons at will. Erza is said to have over 100 different armors, with each having its strength and weaknesses.

Fairy Tail is an action-adventure pumping with adrenaline with every episode. Once rivaling the ‘Big 3’, the anime has garnered quite a big fan base for it. Any fan of the show will tell you that it is very hard to stop once you start. The addicting adventures of Natsu Dragoneel seemingly get more interesting and better than the preceding arc.
