Who knew that a guitar smashed by the late frontman of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain would be sold for about $600000? Well, this is what recently happened!
An electric guitar, the left-handed Fender Stratocaster, which was smashed by the late singer, also has his signature on it.
The legendary guitar was an item in the three-day auction held in New York at the Hard Rock Cafe.
The auction was about the rock history pieces and Kurt’s smashed guitar was a major piece in this auction.
As the guitar was smashed, it was basically unplayable but was reassembled after the smashing incident. The main factor of its popularity was Kurt’s actions and his signature.

The guitar was valued at around $60,000 but it was literally sold for $595900.
The electric black guitar didn’t only have the signature of Cobain but had other things doodled on it with silver ink as well.
It had the signatures of Nirvana’s all band members including Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic.
Not only this but the guitar also had a message written on it to Mark Lanegan, the musician. The message said, “Hello Mark! Love, Your Pal, Kurdt Kobain / Washed up rockstar.” This message was written by none other than Kurt Cobain.

This wasn’t the only crazy Nirvana thing present at the popular auction. It’s said that a handwritten set list of Nirvana by Dave Grohl was also auctioned. This setlist was from the band’s debut performance on 17th April 1991.
Another thing at auction related to the band Nirvana was an oversized poster.
The set list which had the original set value of $4000 was sold at $50800.
The poster was sold for $10,400.

Kurt Cobain, who was one of the most loved singers died by suicide at the peak of his singing career in 1994 when the star was just 27 years old.
Well, this isn’t the first time something related to Kurt Cobain has been auctioned and sold for such a high price. In the year 2020, Kurt’s Martin D-18E guitar was auctioned and sold for $6 million.
The band disbanded after Cobain’s suicide in 1994. It was one of the most loved and influential bands in the history of music. The band’s biggest hit is the song Smells like Teen Spirit.
