What is the storyline of Toaru Kagaku No Accelerator?

“Toaru Kagaku no accelerator” the Japanese manga series is a spin-off from the light novel series called ” Toaru Majutsu no Indekkusu “. The series occurs in Academgorod where Espers, who are mainly students with certain abilities, are divided into 6 levels.

Starting from level 0 – who doesn’t possess any abilities to level 5 – the top level that only 7 can. The main protagonist is a powerful Level 5 Esper named Accelerator. After the chaotic, neutral MC gets nerfed badly he still manages to deal with the Dark Side of the Academy City and protect Last Order with his newfound partner, Esther Rosenthal.

How many episodes are there in “Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator”?

Season 1 of the anime finishes with 12 episodes in Summer 2019. It has been aired in Japan from 12th July to 27th September 2019 broadcasting every Friday.

Since Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator is an anime adaptation, it covers only Volume 1 – 7 into the first anime episodes out of 12 Volumes of the light novel till the Nocromencer Arc.

The Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator also known as ‘A certain Scientific Accelerator’ is a snippet of a light novel series ‘A Certain Magical Index’ written and illustrated by Kazuma Kamchi Araja Yamaji respectively. Before starting ‘A Certain Scientific Accelerator’ you will have to read A Certain Magical Index beforehand.

Henceforth, it is highly recommended to read the novel as the manga omitted a portion of details comparatively with the anime.

1. Accelerator

A 16 years old boy named Accelerator is the main protagonist of this anime. He is an incredibly powerful psychic of the Academy City who manages to kill 20,000 skilled Level 3 Espers.

He has the looks of a protagonist with white hair matching his pale skin and a manly face with bright red eyes. He is the typical lanky tsundere. Accelerator’s ability is automatic, he can control gravity as he pleases, discharging electricals, releases heat, controls vectors and his skin repels all ultraviolet radiations from the sun.

His unique ability secures him from bullets and explosions. Though invincible as he is portrayed, Kamijou Touma’s triumph over him makes it his first and only loss. After all, it has been depicted that he’s the only person belittling Truck-Kun.

2. Last Order

Everyone’s favorite Lolicon, Mikasa’s clone no. 20001 is a 10 years old girl named Last Order. She and Accelerator have met each other in episode 19 of Toaru Majutsu no Indekkusu. She is a Level 3 Esper with an ability to Radio Noise.

The special thing about Last Order is that, unlike her other clone sisters, she is capable of showing emotions and having feelings as well. Despite her age, Last Order is the only girl who Accelerator holds dearly to his heart.

3. Esther Rosenthal

Esther Rosenthal is a kind and well-mannered magician who values both the living and the dead. Due to her ability ‘Necromancy,’ she unwittingly does a lifelong regrettable thing. Her actions help Hishigata and DA in an undoubtedly foul manner, so she tries to take full responsibility for it by stopping them.

After being subdued she finally manages to get away. She’s low-key the best girl in this anime series.

The second season for “A Certain Scientific Accelerator” isn’t certain as to its name. Sadly enough, there is no official announcement of the new season.

The discontinuation of the anime adaptation may be due to budgets. Since the ratings of the first season aren’t high enough the producers may be discouraged to embark on its continuance.

It has been said that season 1 cannot be as impressive as it’s supposed to be because people cannot catch up with the other series. To get involved in Season 1, one has to binge almost all the remaining series first, resulting in fewer viewers.

So, if there is a possibility of “Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator” Season 2, the writer will have to spice up a little bit to attract more fans.

Anyway, there is enough source for Season 2 as the anime adapted only a part of the volumes from the light novel.
