Anime Expo Lite 2021 Exciting New Updates

The Anime Expo Lite 2021 being held from 3rd to 4th July, 12-8 pm PDT, marks the second year of the digitalization of the convention in order to ensure the safety of all the attendees present without having to cancel the event.

Anime Expo tickets:

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the convention. The tickets for the same are open to all at the nominal amount of $5 + processing fees. The proceedings from the same will go towards the Hate Is a Virus commUNITY Action Fund. The community is aiming to raise around $1 million in order to give back to the local and national Asian-led community organizations. You can get your ticket here. The organization has three main goals:

  • Raising awareness about racial hate and toxic work environments across the Asian-American community and foster solidarity,
  • To educate their community and equip them on how to deal with and respond to the hate in a tactical manner,
  • Raise money to provide for the small businesses.

The live stream spread across 2 days is set to feature exciting content from several industry partners, here’s a list of the partners confirmed so far:

Fans are in particular are excited about the participation by Crunchyroll since they are already holding their own online event some time in August, we wonder if there may perhaps be some important announcement to make during the anime expo that couldn’t wait until August!

Another name that got fans excited was that of Bandai Namco Arts, after having produced some really amazing anime fans can’t wait to see what else they have in store.

Anime Expo Confirmed Panelists:

1) VShojo V-tubers

The Anime Expo proudly presents the US-based V-tuber talent agency, VShojo’s members taking part in the Anime Expo’s two-day live stream, The talents present for the same are, Ironmouse, Projekt Melody, Nyanners, Silvervale, Zentreya, and Apricot (Froot).

Ironmouse is a demon queen who ran away from her duties in order to live life to the fullest by learning new things and making friends.

Projekt Melody is described as an adorable airhead AI who loves the internet subculture and anime and can sometimes be really clueless which leads to many cute misunderstandings.

Nyanners is a pink-haired cat girl who is supposedly an ancient evil creature dreaming of becoming an idol someday and also of world domination.

2) Trese’s Creators

The Anime expo will shine a spotlight on the filipino anime Trese during a special creator panel. The anime follows the story of a detective named Alexandra Trese in Manila, who confronts a group of evil supernatural mythical creatures who hide among humans. It is a first major filipino anime that showcases the filipino culture from an insider’s point of view.

The special creator panel is a part of the VOD programming available from July 5th to July 16th only for those who purchased the tickets.

The Anime Expo Cosplay Spot-Lite Competition

This year the Anime Expo announced the Anime Expo Spot-Lite Competition presented by Arda Wigs and it is to be hosted by Yaya Han. The panel of judges for the cosplay competition are Mistvein from Belgium, Panterona Cosplay from Trinidad and Tobago, GarnetHart Costumiers from the USA, Shema of Twiin Cosplay from Mexico, and Hoku Props from the USA.

The contestants have the chance to win “gift certificates from Arada WIgs, Jacquard Products, Cut/Sew Sewing Patterns and a round trip flight to Ireland for 2 with 3 nights hotel stay as well as an on-location photoshoot provided by Arada Wigs. The entry deadline for the same was until June 14th, 11:59 pm.

What is Anime Expo?

It is an annual festival event organised by the non profit organization, Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) which aims to celebrate Japanese and Asian pop culture. The Anime Expo is typically annually held in Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) but in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic they have gone digital.
