Updated Grammy Awards Rules and Guidelines (2024)

The Recording Academy has updated the Grammy Awards rules and Guidelines for the 66th Grammy Awards. The 2024 Grammys will feature three new categories :

1)- Best African Music Performance

2)- Best Alternative Jazz Album

3)- Best Pop Dance Recording

The awards are also moving two categories — Producer of the Year, Non-Classical and Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical — to the General Field, allowing all GRAMMY voters to decide on the winners.

-Grammy Announced new AI Rules

AI generated music has been gaining popularity in recent years and many music artists and producers are using AI to create new & unique sounds and compositions. But AI generated music may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The new Grammy Award rules stated that only human creators are eligible to be nominated for a Grammy Award. However it is important to remember that AI generated music is not meant to replace human creativity.

-Eligibility criteria for Grammy Award 2024

To be eligible for the nomination for album of the year, a music creator must be a part of 20 % of the album. Previously anyone who contributed to the album – producer, songwriter or featured artist- would also be included in the nominations.
