This year marks the 76th edition of the Cannes Festival, with more glamour and celebrities.

From press parties, movies, and celebrities, the celebrations have already started from 16th May.

Let’s know in detail about everything that happened at the beginning of Cannes and everything that will happen on 27th May 2023 at the end of Cannes.

With new talent and ideas, the official list of movies premiering at Cannes this year is out.

This year there’ll be 21 films that will battle for the most awaited and prestigious prize – Palme d’Or.

The second film on the list is Club Zero by Jessica Hausner.


This movie is a thriller starring Mia Wasikowska, Mathieu Demy, Elsa Zylberstein, Amir El-Masry, and Sidse Babett Knudsen playing major characters in the movie.

The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer is the third film on the list.

This film is a comedy-drama and a trilogy for the directors, Paradise and Ariel and The Match Factory Girl. The main role is performed by Alma Pöysti and Jussi Vatanen.

The fifth film for Cannes this year is Les Filles D’olfa also known as Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania.


This movie is a documentary film on the disappearance of Two daughters of A Tunisian mom. The film is an Arabic language Film, and the cast includes Hend Sabri, Nour Karoui, Ichraq Matar, and other actors as well.

The sixth on the list is from one of the most loved directors, Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, a sci-fi rom-com drama in 1955.


The cast of the movie is quite large including Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, and other actors.

The seventh in the awaited list is Anatomie D’une Chute or Anatomy of Fall by Justine Triet.


This is another thriller on the list for Cannes 2023. The cast includes Sandra Hüller, Swann Arlaud, Milo Machado-Graner, Jehnny Beth, Saadia Bentaieb, and Samuel Theis.

The eighth film is Kaibutsu or Monster by Kore-Eda Hirokazu.


The movie is from a screenplay by Yuji Sakamoto. This movie will be a Japanese drama film. The cast of the upcoming movies includes Sakura Andō, Eita Nagayama, Soya Kurokawa, Hinata Hiiragi, Mitsuki Takahata, Akihiro Tsunoda, Shidō Nakamura, and Yūko Tanaka.

The ninth movie on the list is IL Sol Dell’ Avvenire or a brighter tomorrow by Nanni Moretti.

L’été Dernier or Last Summer by Catherine Breillat is the tenth on the list.


A bit different from others in the list, this film is an erotic French drama and is a remake of the Danish movie Queen of Hearts released in 2019. The cast of the movie includes Léa Drucker, Samuel Kircher, Olivier Rabourdin, Clotilde Courau, Serena Hu, and Angela Chen.

Kuru Otlar Ustune or About Dry Grasses by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, the eleventh film on the list.


It is a Turkish film and includes Deniz Celiloğlu, Merve Dizdar, and Musab Ekici

La Chimera by Alice Rohrwacher is the twelfth on the list.


An Italian-french-swiss drama film has Josh O’Connor, Isabella Rossellini, Carol Duarte, Alba Rohrwacher, and Vincenzo Nemolato.

The thirteenth film on the list is La Passion De Dodin Bouffant or The Pot-Au-Feu by Tran Hùng.


Another different category in the list, this movie is set in 1885, a historical romantic French drama film starring Juliette Binoche, Benoît Magimel, Bonnie Chagneau-Ravoire, and Jean-Marc Roulot.

Rapito or kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio serves as the fourteenth film on the list for Cannes 2023.


The film is an Italian historical drama and it said that the film is based on Il Caso Mortara, Daniele Scalise’s book. The movie stars Paolo Pierobon, Fausto Russo Alesi, Barbara Ronchi, Enea Sala, Leonardo Maltese, Filippo Timi, Fabrizio Gifuni, and Andrea Gherpelli.

It is an American romantic drama film starring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Charles Melton. It’s the fifteenth film on the list.

Firebrand by Karim Aïnouz is a historical drama with Jessica and Henrietta Ashworth’s screenplay.

Black Flies by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire is an American thriller drama.

Le Retour or Homecoming by Catherine Corsini is a French drama film.

Elemental by Peter Sohn, the Closing Film Out of the Competition and the last film of the competition is an animated romantic comedy-drama.


The film is a Walt Disney production. The voice cast includes Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, Joe Pera, and Matt Yang King.
